Triple P
Selected Triple P is for parents or caregivers with children 12 years or younger who are interested in promoting their child’s development through one or more of the three seminars: Positive Parenting, Raising Confident and Competent Children, and Raising Resilient Children.
Triple P Selected Seminar Series – An introduction to the strategies of positive parenting and Triple P. Parents attend any number of three 90-minute seminars (Power of Positive Parenting; Raising Confident, Competent Children; and Raising Resilient Children).
Seminar 1:The Power of Positive Parenting - The Power of Positive Parenting provides an introduction to the Triple P program. Participants will learn key principles and strategies to: Create safe, interesting environments for children, provide positive learning environments for children, use assertive discipline, have realistic expectations of themselves and children, and take care of themselves as parents and caregivers.
Seminar 2: Raising Confident, Competent Children - Raising Confident, Competent Children covers social and emotional skills that children need in order to thrive at home, in school, and throughout life. Participants will learn ways to help children, learn to treat others with respect, be considerate, have good communication and social skills, develop healthy self-esteem, become good problem solvers, and become independent.
Seminar 3: Raising Resilient Children - Raising Resilient Children offers strategies to teach children healthy ways to deal with their emotions; Participants will learn ways to help children: Recognize, understand, and accept feelings, express feelings appropriately, build a positive outlook, develop effective ways of coping, deal with negative feelings and unpleasant situations, and manage stressful life events.
The Power of Positive Parenting Teen Program is a multi-level system of family intervention for parents of children and adolescents ages 12-16 who have, or are at risk of developing, behavioral or emotional problems. This program aims to:
- Promote positive caring relationships between parents and their teenagers
- Help parents develop effective management strategies for dealing with a variety of adolescent social, emotional, or behavioral problems and common development issues
- Enhance the knowledge, skills, and confidence of parents
- Teach parents how to encourage teenagers to learn the skills and competencies they need to develop independence and to promote their health, development, and well-being
